Following the sad death of Cllr Bob Greenland, there is likely to be a by-election in Devauden ward of Monmouthshire County Council.  

The process for choosing a new County Councillor will start on Monday 5th September 2022 with publication of the notice of vacancy. If two electors from anywhere in Monmouthshire request in writing that the Council holds an election to fill the vacancy the an election will be held and the most likely date will be Thursday 20th October 2022. If that is the case, then the nomination period for candidates to stand for election will commence on the 15 September and nominations will have to be submitted by 4pm on the 23 September 2022.

At the elections held in May this year the Conservatives received just under half the votes and Labour came second with about one third of the votes.  The Greens and Lib Dems came third and fourth, each with 10% of the votes cast.
