Ken Reece, a longtime member and servant of our community passed away on Monday, 19th August aged 87 years.

The family moved to Sunnybank Farm in 1946. There they built up a herd of prize-winning Jersey cattle and supplied milk to Devauden, Llanishen and surrounding areas.

Ken followed his father and served on Chepstow Rural District Council and then for many years on Monmouth Borough Council where, in 1990 he was elected Mayor of the Borough supported by his sister-in-law Margaret as the Mayoress.

Ken married later in life to Audrey but sadly she predeceased him 2015.

One of Ken's interests was local tourism and he was a long-term member of the Wyedean Tourist Board. He also had a small caravan park at his farm.

As a farmer he supported the Curre Hunt in a number of ways including their Point to Points and in 'puppy walking'.

For over 40 years Ken was involved in various ways on race days at Chepstow Race Course.

Ken's funeral Service was held at St Peter's Church, Newchurch on Thursday 12th September at 12 noon followed by interment in the churchyard.
