St. Arvans Parish Rogation Walk will be held on Sunday 6th May 2018.   The walk starts at St Deiniol’s Church in Itton  and proceeds to the churches in St. Arvans, Penterry, Devauden and Kilgwrrwg.  The walk is divided into stages and all are welcome, regardless of faith, to join for any particular stage, stages or the whole walk.

Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions and bring water and refreshments.   Dogs are very welcome, but please keep them on leads.

Rogation Sunday is the day the Church prays particularly for the rural community and for the well-being of crops and animals for the coming year. Some parishes also ‘beat the bounds’ today – walking around their ancient boundaries to ask God’s blessing for the growing season ahead. Because of the large size of the St. Arvans parish grouping, the custom has been adapted to a walk from Church to Church, using public footpaths wherever possible, pausing at each churchyard and church building both to pray and to rest before the next stage.

Stage 1: St Deiniol’s Itton to St Arvans Church
The walk starts after the Eucharist at 8.50 – 9 a.m.
After the 10 a.m. Eucharist at St Arvans  there will be an animal and pet blessing at 11 a.m.

Stage 2: St Arvans to St Mary’s, Penterry
Eucharist will be celebrated at Penterry from 11.30 – 11.45 a.m.

Stage 3: St Mary’s, Penterry to St James Devauden
Leaving St. Mary's at 1.30 p.m.

Stage 4 St James’, Devauden to Holy Cross, Kilgwrrwg
Leaving Devauden at 2.45 p.m.

The walk will end at Kilgwrrwg with Tea at 4 p.m. followed by Evening Prayer at Holy Cross.
