Michael Layzell, organiser of Devauden Village Fete, has sent a message of thanks to everyone involved in this year's event.  The fete raised £2162 and the proceeds will go the Village Hall, St. James' Church and Alzheimers Society Wales.

“A ginormous THANK YOU to all of you who helped with, or attended, the Devauden Fete this year.

The feedback we’ve had has been extremely positive. Whether you were a sponsor, running a stall or operation, an organiser or a helper, or just came along, we couldn’t have done it without you. The fete’s success was down to you.

As a result of all your excellent participation we raised the grand total of £2162 - an slight increase on last year’s record-breaking total.

The fete proceeds have always been divided 50/50 between the hall and the church. So, of this sum £1081 goes to St James' Church.

The hall also gives to its chosen charity each year, so some of the hall’s share, also £1081, will go to the Alzheimer's Society Wales

If you don’t want to miss the excitement of the Wife Carrying event again next year, and all the rest of the fun, do make a note of the date. Next year the fete will be on Sat July 14th. (It will be later next year because we always keep to the second Saturday in July)

Again a great big thank you to you all.

Michael Layzell
