The current owner of the Masons Arms withdrew his application to change the use of the building to a house on 16 April 2020. He will assess his options and take advice from agents on marketing the property as a
public house. Many local residents and pub regulars had expressed their opposition to the planning application by submitting comments on Monmouthshire County Council’s website.

Brian Phillips, much-loved landlord of the Masons Arms and lifelong resident of Devauden, passed away on 20th January 2010. Brian's contribution to Devauden is incomparable and he is greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
