Devauden is said to be the site of a battle in which the Britons were overwhelmed and defeated by the combined forces of the English kings Æthelbald of the Mercians and Cuthred of the West Saxons in 743.

The village hall is available to hire for parties, weddings, corporate events etc.

 

The B4293 at Devauden is one of the top 10 spookiest roads in Britain.

 

The last Briton to die in WW I was from Devauden. Able Seaman Richard Morgan died on Armistice Day, November 11, 1918 while serving on HMS Garland.
